Images in Color, an exhibit by artists Cynthia Pascal and Steven Vando, through June 27, 2023

A side-by-side view of two paintings. Left: a colorful portrait of a woman in a floral coat and hat. Right: a delicate watercolor of pink sweet peas.

Originally from New York City, Steven began painting, drawing and creating art at a young age. His art education, though mainly self-taught through life experiences and observation, included studying at Pratt Institute and the School of Visual Arts. His adult career has led him through many different creative and business endeavors, while always thinking of returning to his artistic roots. In 2016, Steven began painting, creating and selling his latest original watercolors.

"My current work in watercolor is a blend of impressionism and lyrical abstract painting. I enjoy working with shape, texture, line and color, experimenting with spontaneous and controlled interactions of paint and water producing compositions that are fluid and vibrant. I enhance my imagery by lifting paint or layering colors to create texture and depth. My art is strongly influenced and representative of nature, water, florals, trees and leaves."
