LGBTQ+ Mission, Vision, and Covenant

LGBTQ+ SUB-COMMITTEE MISSON

The UUCSR LGBTQ Sub-Committee strives to serve as a source of fellowship and support for LGBTQ people and their allies in the UUCSR family. We seek to work with the congregation to make members and newcomers in the LGBTQ community feel safe and welcomed through education, inclusive language and practices, community-building events, and outreach and service.

LGBTQ+ SUB-COMMITTEE PURPOSE

“The LGBTQ+ Sub-Committee shall provide a forum and a support group for members and allies to educate ourselves and others about social, moral, ethical and economic issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community. It may take an announced position or action on LGBTQ+ issues in the sub-committee’s own name. It may affiliate with national or community activist groups and be listed as “The LGBTQ+ Sub-Committee of the Social Justice Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock.” Only upon specific authorization by the Board of Trustees may the name of the Congregation itself be used.”

Covenant

We agree to speak from our own experiences and perspectives and listen respectfully to other people.

We will honor and celebrate the diversity in our welcoming community.

We agree to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to speak and to listen.

We agree to not interrupt or give unasked for advice, and we will hold in confidence what has been shared here.

We agree to use this time as an opportunity to discuss ethical, religious, social justice and spiritual issues, rather than debate politics.

A Message from the UUCSR Ministers and President
We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Rev. Dr. Natalie Fenimore. She was a cherished member of our community, and her presence, guidance, and compassion touched many lives. During this time of mourning, we come together in grief and remembrance, honoring the impact she had on all of us. Our Ministers are available for any support for our Community during this difficult time.
A Message from the UUCSR Ministers and President
In this time of grief with the passing of Rev. Dr. Natalie Fenimore, congregational leadership has discerned the need for space to mourn, reflect, and care for one another between now and Sunday, April 26. All programming and meetings are canceled through that date, except for Music Sunday and RE at 11 AM followed by Sunday Cafe on April 19. On that Sunday, Rev. David Carl Olson and Rev. Meagan Henry will be present from 10–11 AM and after Service until 1:30 PM. With the exception of Monday, April 20, a day of observance to honor Rev. Dr. Natalie Fenimore’s memory, the building will remain open during normally scheduled hours. During this time, there will be ministers or chaplains present to care for our community.
