It is terrible and frightening to see peaceful protests against ICE raids in California become battles with the National Guard and Marines.
- We want everyone to step back from violence and chaos.
- We support de-escalation, not using the military on civilian protesters.
- We ask for peaceful protests and constructive dialogue to explore the challenging issues of immigration and deportation.
Violent action, whether by individuals or by the state, will not build up our democracy and will not bring us together as a Beloved Community. Let’s find our way back to compassion, justice, and peace.
