About Unitarian Universalism
Unitarian Universalism is a vibrant faith with a rich heritage and an exciting future. With its historical roots in Judaism and Christianity, Unitarian Universalism currently appeals to persons of many other traditions as well in its honoring of personal experience, dialogue, conscience, and reason as final authorities in religion. Our Statement of Purposes and Principles is not a creed but rather a general statement of what we hold dear and the several religious traditions from which we draw inspiration. Our congregations are self-governing with final authority resting in the democratic participation of our members. Our national headquarters, located in Boston, exists to serve the needs of more than 1,000 local congregations and to enable their cooperation.
